To apply online, use “Visit Japan Web“.
This is a service that allows you to complete immigration inspections, customs declarations, and quarantine when entering Japan online.
With the introduction of Visit Japan Web in November 2022, you can register your customs declaration information on the website in advance, and then declare it by simply holding the QR code over the electronic declaration terminal after arriving in Japan.
This makes the entry process much smoother.
Currently, “Visit Japan Web” is available at seven airports: Narita Airport, Haneda Airport, Chubu Centrair International Airport, Kansai International Airport, Fukuoka Airport, New Chitose Airport, and Naha Airport.
Unfortunately, there is no app.
To use the service, create an account and register your passport.
After registering the details of your flight and your hotel in Japan, register your customs declaration information.
Once you have registered your customs declaration information, a QR code will be issued.
After arriving in Japan, simply present that QR code at the airport gate where an electronic declaration terminal is installed to complete the procedure.
The QR code can be displayed from your My Page.
For peace of mind, it is a good idea to take a screenshot in case you do not have an internet connection.
If you are not using “Visit Japan Web“, you can simply fill out and submit the arrivals card form as usual.
